How To Draw Sonic Werehog

Sonic Werehog is a character from the video game Sonic Unleashed, released by Sega for multiple video game platforms in 2008. Sonic Werehog is a kind of alter ego, or shadow side of the spritely, sunny Sonic the Hedgehog.

During Sonic Unleashed, Sonic was transformed by his nemesis, Dr. Eggman, and was thereby doomed to transform into Sonic Werehog, his shadowy beast form, each night. Turning into a monster each night adds an extra dimension of challenge to completing the quest of the game. However, drawing Sonic Werehog is really not that different from drawing Sonic the Hedgehog. If you know how to draw Sonic the Hedgehog, you know how to draw Sonic Werehog.

Like Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Werehog is a bipedal rodent-like creature, blue in color with a characteristic mane of spiky blue hair. Both characters have blue and white shoes, and erect, fox-like ears.

However, Sonic Werehog has a sinister appearance that is absent in the friendly Sonic the Hedgehog. Where Sonic the Hedgehog has Mickey Mouse style white gloves – a sure sign of an archetypical good guy – Sonic Werehog has oversized blue ham hands with predatory claws and a fringe of white fur where his cuffs would be. Sonic the Hedgehog’s trademark ‘can-do’ smile is replaced by a vicious sneer that reveals carnivorous, pointed teeth. Even Sonic the Hedgehog’s Disney-like red and white shoes become more shadowy, darkening in color and sprouting spikes.

How To Draw Sonic Werehog

Overall, Sonic Werehog should be drawn to appear more sinister that Sonic the Hedgehog: his posture more hunched, his blue fur darker and more shaggy and unkempt, his expression one of cunning rather than Sonic the Hedgehog’s cheerful optimism. As is the case with most classic animal transformations, many of the changes are subtle, to give a more beastly impression, but a skilled artist should be able to render these changes without a great deal of trouble.
